This is the second annual Grand Depart for the Great Northern Bikepacking Route. Ride across the mountains of British Columbia, pedal all the way to the nation's capital, Ottawa, or go the whole way to the breezy shores of Newfoundland. A truly grand adventure on two wheels. Riders can choose the distance they want to travel on this 13,700 kilometre mega-route. A commitment to ride the full route is not required to join the grand depart.

The group departure will occur on Saturday May 23, 2026 at 9am from Mile 0 in Victoria. However, this date and time can be considered rather loose. If you need to alter your departure date, this will be acceptable.

This is not an official race or a paid official event. Each rider assumes complete responsibility for their own safety. Riders may ride alone, in pairs, or in small groups, it is entirely up to them.

Please fill out this form to sign-up for the grand depart.
